Summertime Fun
This weekend was really fun because it was so busy! Derek had his softball tournament Saturday (double elimination) so in between games we stopped by the annual Burns Family reunion, dropped him back off at the game, drove back to the reunion, then it was on to our new church opening complete with sno-cones, jambalaya, and carnival games. On Sunday it was more of the same; I enjoyed more jambalaya and kaleb got to make his rounds and was excited with all the festivities going on. We then headed to Des Arc and got to spend a great afternoon with Nonna & Papa. We shelled peas from the garden, went swimming, enjoyed a great dinner and got loaded up for our drive home with squash, cucumbers, beans and cantelope fresh from the garden. Although the family reunion was replete with the usual amazing homecooked meals in supernumerary form, there was no fried okra so Derek had to stop at the store so I could make fried okra and sweet tea last night at 10:30! I was missing my fried okra all weekend! When I crave something it's difficult to think of much else! It was so great seeing everyone in our family this weekend and I've decided I need to have everyone over for lunch soon as, with gas prices, we simply can't get out to the farm, etc. and see everyone as much as we'd like. A special thank you to Grana for babysitting kaleb so much this summer! We love it when he gets love lavished on him all day long and can spend more time with him in the morning instead of driving him to daycare! We love you Grana! We're excited to have a four day work week as we leave Thursday night for the Branson Marriot with Grandma! Here is how Kaleb fell asleep this weekend. Babies' bendable, jello bodies amaze me! It's pretty difficult to contort your body in this position as Derek has demonstrated:

peepaw LOVES his little boy! Notice how they nearly match! Peepaw kept telling me he was going to take him home and I could run by and get him later to which I explained the need for a carseat. Peepaw didn't see the need and knew Kaleb would be safe and protected on his lap. Becky also wanted to take Kaleb home but with no extra bottles and our church opening to go to a promise to come see you soon will have to do. We'll come see you soon Peepaw and Becky!

daddy, baby k, uncle dewayne, and matt man
no doubt he's daddy's boy! we realized this weekend that kaleb says "dada" when he wants to play and "mama" when he's about to fuss and wants comfort. He also says "nana" throughout the day and "NING NING NING" when he wakes up mad in the morning wanting his bottle. Jennifer just mentioned that the book she's reading states that babies say their "n" sounds when hungry. I guess "nana" translates to "NING NING" when baby is SUPER hungry and MAD!

pat-a-cake
this is Jackson. when you say "give some sugar, Jackson" he proceeds to open-mouth kiss the recipient of his sweet "sugar". He literally had Kaleb's entire nose and mouth in his own mouth by the third time Kaleb got some "sugar." =)

kaleb, get over here so I can give you some more sugar!
Carrie & Kaleb ♥ carrie was staring and staring at him and kaleb wouldn't take his eyes off her!
this is what happens the second our family gets their hands on Kaleb! Becky and Ninette promised they only smeared chocolate around his mouth and not in his mouth although Kaleb swirled his tongue round and round trying to get every bit. They took him to the other side of the room and when I checked on him he of course was covered in a dessert topping =)
New Life Church celebrated the new church opening just down the street! We needed a bigger building since our church is growing! It was a fun night with AWESOME worship, a great message, and yummy jambalaya and sno-cones!Derek, Jeff, and baby Chandler

kaleb had so much fun splashing, trying to climb over the side, kicking his little legs in the water, and LOVED playing with Rosco! He loves sweet, slobbery kisses from Rosco ♥
