The Burns Family: Happy Father's Day! Aaaarrgh! Happy Birthday Izzy! Happy Birthday Jerod!

Unbeknownst to me, Father's Day came and went while I was busy preparing to spoil Derek next weekend on June 21st! My company calendar has FATHER'S DAY in big, bold letters marked for SATURDAY June 21st! Major typo! A girlfriend from work even mentioned that her dad was going to church with her on Father's Day and I actually said "it's not on Sunday this year!" to which she gave me a puzzled look but I made her a believer as well! You'd think I'd remember after all these years what day it falls on! Derek had said he wanted the pic of Kaleb & me together from his first photo shoot at 2 months framed. Well, when I went to order it pb kids even advised to order before the 9th for Father's Day and I remember thinking that was well in advance compared to usual shipping times =) GOLLY!! And I still didn't figure it out! It was Derek's first father's day and I wasn't able to wake him up with breakfast in bed like he did for me on my first mother's day=( It was noon before I heard a sports announcer on t.v. say "happy father's day!" to which I exclaimed to Derek "it's not Father's Day today!" When something is stuck in your mind a certain way it sure takes an act of Congress to change your mind to the contrary! His feelings were a little hurt obviously, then my feelings were hurt because I felt terrible, then his feelings were hurt...etc. etc.! We did end up having dinner together as a family at Kobe on actual Father's Day and had a fun filled BUSY weekend with the fam. We celebrated Jerod's Birthday and honored him by going to dinner with Marci since he is currently overseas. Marci said if she couldn't be with her husband on his birthday she wanted to celebrate him with her family! Marci may have celebrated a bit too much! Kidding! One glass of wine will do ya if you're a southern belle! We also celebrated Izzy's Bday at Nonna & papa's and Father's day with everyone at peepaw's! And Kaleb and I spoiled daddy anyhow on monday and had our own Daddy's Day celebration. I cooked a super healthy dinner--lemon dill salmon & asparagus--just so we could indulge in rich chocolatey brownies for dessert, complete with 'I love you daddy' spelled out on the plate in chocolate & a framed pic of the two he loves most! I've made creme brulee, texas sheet cake, chocolate molten lava cake and Derek STILL loves plain old brownies the most! Easier for me I guess! Dad, I love you and miss you. We'll see you soon at the cottage! Kaleb says "Happy father's day GRANDPA!" Honey, thank you for being a WONDERFUL husband and AWESOME father! I thank God for our marriage and our beautiful baby boy each day!
