A picture is worth a thousand words and this one says it all! Our poor little man had a ROUGH week! It started with an ear infection last week and culminated in a 101 degree fever over the holiday weekend. After screaming at the doctor's office last week as they drained his ears it went from bad to worse! Needless to say, he has received many wonderful "gifts" from medical professionals for his feverish state as well as a whole host of other "goodies" for his special needs: special shoes for his metatarsus adductus i.e. turned in feet (which he HATES), amoxicillin (which he also HATES), and oragel. We tried to be sneaky and mix the medicine in with his baby food and he just gave us this look like "I may have been born 7th months ago but I'm definitely not dumb!" and he closed his mouth and pushed the spoon away and refused to eat his baby food. So then we mixed it in his bottle...so he then refused to drink his bottle. Now we give him his bottle--amoxicillin free--and then squirt a little bit in the side of his mouth as he drinks. This works adequately. His shoes seemingly take hours to strap on and tighten and have already pinched his skin and caused red patches. Then it's time for grape tylenol to be squirted in his mouth to ease the discomfort of his fever caused by teething? ear infection? fever virus? take your pick. The on-call nurse says there is a "fever virus" going around where no other symptoms but fever are exhibited. Kaleb cried and fussed the whole drive from Ashley & Bryan's to Cabot and after getting a temperature reading of 101 we packed him up and headed home before the fireworks started. We did pick a great time to drive home; we could see fireworks in several cities going off at once, it was BEAUTIFUL! Although we did have a great weekend as is measured in quality time with friends and family, poor kaleb was NOT happy unless he was in the pool, sleeping, or playing the guitar with roy!
